It is a double canvas in white and makes it easier beginners to learn decorative embroidery techniques. However, this Canvas is also used for waste canvas.
This term is used because the individual threads of the canvas are given a special finish which dissolves in water. Once damped the threads can be individually pulled out, leaving only the embroidery.
